Hello and Welcome to The Scrunchy Moms Blog
I’m so happy you’re here! I’m Susan, the stay at home mom behind this blog. I live in central Florida with my husband and three boys. I used to be an avid theme park blogger but fell out of love with it quite quickly. I found the fast paced, hustle and consumption culture of it is not for me. Since I found myself missing the creative outlet of a blog, “The Scrunchy Moms Blog” was formed.
What is a “Scrunchy Mom” you may ask. It’s the mix between a Crunchy Mom (a mom who lives a natural, holistic life) and a Silky Mom (moms embrace all that modern-day advances have to offer). Which basically means that we avoid single use plastic, make some of our food from scratch, have a garden and love organic food, but also don’t stick to wooden toys, don’t mind a take out day, and use screen time. It’s all about balance here. You can read more about the differences here if interested.
What Can You Expect From The Scrunchy Moms Blog
Here at TSMB, I believe in creating a cozy home full of life’s simple joys. Here is what you can expect from The Scrunchy Moms Blog:
Homeschool Inspiration
Whether you’re new to homeschool, thinking about starting up, or a seasoned pro, I have some fun activities and an insight to our plan. I’ve been homeschooling for a few years now and finally feel like I have a set routine that the kids and I enjoy.
Homemade Recipes
While I’m not an expert baker, I have a few recipes that are huge hits in our house. I love recipes with simple ingredients and delicious results, I’m talking cinnamon rolls and banana breads. Baking is one of our favorite things to do together and we believe food really does bring the family together.
Holiday and Seasonal Joy
My family loves holidays and I try to make each one special. Themed play dough recipes, crafts, and cozy decor are some of our favorite. We tend to come alive at the major holidays and love all the amazing activities leading up to the actual days.
Garden and Homestead How To’s
We are slowly turning our entire yard into our own urban homestead. We raise chickens, have a nice sized garden with lush fruit trees, and have incorporated things like growing loofa and canning into our routines. We try and strive to be as eco conscious as possible and making things ourselves has helped with that. I’d love to share some of our gardening tips and tricks and what we make and no longer buy.
If you made it this far, thank you for taking the time and interest to read our story. I hope you find inspiration and celebrate the simple joys in life. Until next time, Susan.
